Dan Novak serves as vice president of Global Marketing for Qualcomm Inc., where he leads the development and implementation of marketing strategies and programs that include interactive marketing/online communications, market and competitive intelligence, sponsorships, tradeshows, and events. In addition, Dan leads Qualcomm's public relations and media efforts to increase awareness of the company's business and technologies.
Previously, Dan served as vice president of Programming and Advertising for MediaFLO USA Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Qualcomm Inc. He was a member of the founding executive team that launched MediaFLO USA in the United States. In that role, Dan was responsible for programming strategy, content acquisition, production, advertising, and consumer and media research. He was also integral in finalizing multi-year licensing agreements with CBS, ESPN, FOX, NBC, and MTV Networks.
Dan founded and was the vice president and general manager of Cox Communications Channel 4 San Diego, launching and then driving the growth and innovation of the award-winning regional network. Under his direction, Channel 4 San Diego grew into a dominant network in the regional sports and media market. While with Cox Communications, Novak oversaw the sports marketing investments and programming ventures for the region, including the Padres, PETCO Park, and Cox Arena at San Diego State University. Dan also was responsible for Media and Public Relations for Cox in the region and hosted a regular television show.
Dan began his television career as a sports anchor, reporter, and producer for NBC affiliates.
A graduate of what is now Arizona State University's Walter Cronkite School of Journalism, Dan received his master's degree from San Diego State University's School of Communication.
