A native of Washington state, Berit Anderson has spent the past six months researching and writing about solutions in sustainability and social justice for Yes! Magazine on Bainbridge Island, Washington. She is also the director of Social Networks at Strategic News Service. She leaves Yes! energized about engaging at-risk youth through environmental and food education. Prior to her work with Yes! Magazine, Berit spent her days producing PR for Strategic News Service and blogging for the Huffington Post.

Berit received her Arts Baccalaureate in May 2009 in Diplomacy and World Affairs from Occidental College. Over the course of her collegiate career, she balanced her role as a full-time student with a position as an editor at the Occidental Weekly; a four-month stint in Rabat, Morocco, studying and conducting independent research in the field of urban microcredit; involvement in numerous mentoring and educational community outreach programs in the L.A. area; and a summer of nursing blisters on the Camino de Santiago, a walking pilgrimage from the French Pyrénées to the Spanish Atlantic coast.

Berit is an avid fan of outdoor adventures, baking and cooking with local foods, and pursuing increased sustainability and social justice through connectivity, innovation, and the written word.
