HervÈ Gallaire was appointed president of the Xerox Innovation Group for Xerox Corp. in October 2001. He is also a corporate senior vice president and chief technology officer.
HervÈ is responsible for overseeing the worldwide research and technology organizations in Xerox, to maximize the company's billion-dollar annual investment in R&D. In addition, he is responsible for intellectual property management and licensing, as well as for overseeing the operations of several companies in the Xerox portfolio.
From 1993 to 1998, HervÈ served as manager of the Xerox Research Centre Europe in Grenoble, France. Most recently, he held the position of chief architect for the corporation and senior vice president of the Research and Technology group of Xerox Corp., based in Stamford, Connecticut.
In 1992, before joining Xerox, HervÈ headed the department of Mathematics and Computer Science at l'…cole Nationale SupÈrieure de l'AÈronautique et de l'Espace in France. He also directed several private and public research laboratories in Europe before managing hardware and software development divisions at Bull and GSI.
HervÈ holds a master of science and a Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, in EECS; that department named him as the first recipient of the distinguished alumnus award. From the …cole Nationale SupÈrieure des Arts et MÈtiers in France HervÈ holds a master's degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was elected founding member of the French AcadÈmie des Technologies, which is the equivalent of the National Academy of Engineering in the United States.
