Daniel Roth is a senior writer at Conde Nast Portfolio, a new business monthly being launched by Conde Nast in May 2007. Prior to that he was a senior editor at Fortune magazine, penning profiles of everyone from Nike's Phil Knight to the founders of Skype and serving in the post--dot-com boom years as the tech editor, overseeing all IT coverage. Daniel has also worked for Forbes, and he started his career covering technology for the Triangle Business Journal in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Danielís story following the creators of Skype was named "Best Story on Entrepreneurship" at the 2005 Business Journalist of the Year Awards. His piece on the founder of BitTorrent was included in the 2006 edition of The Best American Science and Nature Writing.
