Stephen D. Arnold is a founder and managing
general partner of Polaris Venture Partners, an early-stage venture
capital firm with offices in Seattle and Boston. He currently
serves on the boards of directors at CapitalStream, ESurg, Impinj,
Malibu Networks, Midstream Technologies, and Syncronex.
Prior to Polaris, Steve served as a special
advisor to Burr, Egan, Deleage & Co., following over 10 years
in executive positions in the software industry, including serving
as vice president of Broadband Media Applications at Microsoft
Corp. and as president and CEO of Continuum Productions (now
Corbis Corp.), a private company founded by Bill Gates to pioneer
the creation of large digital libraries for online distribution.
Steve is also a veteran of Lucasfilm Ltd., having held executive
positions in several divisions, including what is now LucasArts
Entertainment Co. He was a co-founding board member and continues
to serve as vice chairman of the board of the George Lucas Educational
Foundation.
Steve holds a BS with Honors from Macalester
College and an MA and Ph.D. from CIIS in San Francisco.
