The sponsorship reflects both companies’ commitment to creating a better world through connectivity and efficiency. Both SNS and Accenture are known for their ability to see the bigger picture and to use that vision to improve systems in business, technology and economics.

“Every day we see how technology is reshaping the global business landscape in dramatic ways and we are passionate about helping our clients be successful in an ever-changing world,” said Kevin Campbell, group chief executive of technology at Accenture. “Our participation as a Gold Partner demonstrates our commitment to joining with some of the leading technology minds and talent at FiRe 2012 to help solve the business world’s biggest challenges.”

“We are excited to be working with a company of Accenture’s scope, depth and experience. We share many common areas of interests in the IT world, which provides the foundation for a great relationship. Already, with Accenture’s assistance, we have been able to bring important issues related to Intellectual Property and value to global CIOs. I look forward to sharing our ideas and strategic visions in the future in order to improve the connections between technology and its beneficial use,” said Mark Anderson, FiRe Chair and SNS CEO.

The Strategic News Service provides a weekly online newsletter predicting global trends in technology and economics. It is the most accurate publicly-graded predictive newsletter covering the computer and telecom industries. SNS is delivered each week to a subscriber base of C-level global technology and finance executives, and to thought leaders in technology, science and economics.

Moderated by Padraic Hannon, VP, Software and Data Architecture, Edmunds.com

With: Paul Mascarenas, CTO, Ford Motor Co.; and Mark Zeinstra, Director, Infotainment and Connectivity, Johnson Controls

Car engineering is currently utilizing techology to increase fuel effiency. Free market competition is going to out drive regulation with respect increasing fuel efficiency.

Additionally the field is working to minimize hardware and focus on the integreation of software to improve the costumer experience. Software integration is being used to persue a safer driving experience through traffic management as well as a more user friendly interface. “I want the settings in my car to work ubiquitously with my life. My new car should com equipped with the settings that I put effort to create in my old car and should know who I am the first time I use my key.” The integration mechanism is a point of concern, and defining the interface that defines the relationship that the costumer will have with car is still up for debate. Mobile devices representing a promising prospect to act as a representation of the consumer to the car.

However, in this persuit the privacy of the driver should be considered. “Just because you can doesn’t mean you should…you have to come back to the driving experience that you want to provide your driver without putting them at risk of possible weaponization

FiReStarter companies are selected based on their potential to bring positive change to the world, and are showcased before, after and during the conference, both onstage and at an exclusive investor reception.

Cynvenio’s technology is aimed at substantially improving the treatment of cancer patients via the comprehensive molecular analysis of Circulating Tumor Cells (CTCs) present in their peripheral blood and collected with a simple blood draw. The information derived from this “liquid biopsy” can inform physicians about disease progression or recurrence, patient resistance to treatment, and to formulate a targeted therapy for each patient.

“Up to now CTC platforms have been primarily concerned with finding and counting CTCs, which are certainly very rare and challenging to isolate. Our approach from the onset was to develop a system capable not only of efficient CTC isolation and enumeration, but to also provide the molecular characterization of the target cells. This allows cancer researchers and physicians to make clinically relevant decisions about their drugs and their patients,” said Cynvenio Biosystems’ CEO and Director, André de Fusco. “In the future this technology has the potential to become part of the standard of care for its ability to validate cancer therapies, reduce adverse reactions in patients, and increase the efficacy of cancer treatments.”

Strategic News Service is proud to announce that Easy Energy Systems, Inc. (EES) has been selected as a 2011 FiReStarter company, to be featured at its annual Future in Review (FiRe) technology conference. FiReStarter companies are selected based on their potential to bring positive change to the world, and are showcased before, after and during the conference, both onstage and at an exclusive investor reception.

Easy Energy Systems was founded in 2006 to address the US energy focus on clean energy, the need to replace dependence on fossil fuel with renewable Biofuels, mandated ethanol usage around the world to reduce greenhouse gases, and the revitalization of rural America.

EES has developed a Modularized Ethanol Production System (MEPS®) that is fully self-contained, fully automatic and pre-built in a factory to be easily shipped anywhere in the world and assembled like Lego ™ blocks to build any size ethanol plant. Using proprietary technology, the company has successfully produced cellulosic ethanol in its pilot plant and is focused on the entire waste to energy market sector, utilizing such feed stocks as waste milk byproducts, waste paper, waste soda pop, waste wood and waste crop residue such as corn cobs. The MEPS unit is a solution to the “Achilles Heel” of ethanol production in that the automated economical smaller size units can be located closer to bulky waste feed stocks, eliminating large transportation costs and energy inefficiencies. The modular and scalable design allows for ethanol production to be tested on feed stocks in a limited fashion – and then expanded to any size. The company has patents pending on its technology.

“We are delighted to have been selected as one of the top 12 potentially world changing technologies by Future in Review. Waste streams are the low-hanging fruit of non-corn renewable bio fuels that can be capitalized on today. Because we can do this on a small scale, wasted products that may have never been considered for ethanol production in the past are now prime candidates for conversion into transportation fuel or electricity with MEPS®. It is this transformation of the world’s waste into energy, whether a landfill in the USA or a remote village in India, that will lessen the need for dependence on foreign oil, provide rural wealth creation, and enable us to achieve our company mission to Fuel the World® ,” said EES Chairman and Founder, Mark Gaalswyk.

“We are proud to honor EES as one of our select FiReStarter Companies for 2011,” said Anderson, FiRe Chair and SNS CEO. “Working with real problems and creating real energy solutions is the path we all want to be on. EES is doing just that, laying down the early bricks in a long road of solutions that will resolve the energy and climate crises we face today.”

FiReStarter companies are selected based on their potential to bring positive change to the world, and are showcased before, after and during the conference, both onstage and at an exclusive investor reception.

Wave Systems Corp. (NASDAQ: WAVX) reduces the complexity, cost and uncertainly of data protection by starting inside the device. Unlike other vendors who try to secure information by adding layers of software for security, Wave leverages the security capabilities built directly into endpoint computing platforms themselves. For 20 years, Wave has been the foremost expert on this growing trend, leading the way with first-to-market solutions and helping shape standards through its work as a board member for the Trusted Computing Group.

Conventional security based on software alone fails to authenticate users and machines on the network or fully secure data on lost or stolen laptops. Yet there is a powerful infrastructure in place today that can address these issues and safeguard against the most pernicious cyber threats. That security model focuses on device identity and it’s been successfully deployed by the cable and cellular phone industries for more than a decade.

“Imagine doing away with multiple user names and passwords and simply logging into your device. Then your device securely and seamlessly logs you into your applications and services on the network or in the cloud,” commented Steven Sprague, President & CEO of Wave Systems. “Those capabilities exist today because of hardware security pre-installed on PCs and computing platforms; the challenge is letting the world know about the industry’s collaboration to create these standards. It’s no longer a technical challenge, but it’s one of awareness of the hardware security embedded in our computing devices — it’s already there and it’s easy to turn it on.”

Future in Review is an annual gathering of world-class thought leaders in technology and economics. FiRe attendees convene each year with the goal of solving major world problems; a goal that is consistently met through FiRe’s collaboration across disparate industries and the intellectual and strategic guidance of FiRe Chair and SNS CEO, Mark Anderson. Now in its ninth year, Future in Review 2011 will take place May 24-27th at the beautiful Montage Resort in Laguna Beach, California. The Economist has called FiRe “the best technology conference in the world.”

“At a time when Economic Cyberwar is taking center stage as both a security and global economic issue, Wave Systems’ ability to secure down to the device is an important part of the armaments list each vendor should have,” said Anderson, FiRe Chair and SNS CEO. “We grew to understand the impact that Wave’s solutions are having for real users in the market when Steven Sprague joined us last fall for our FiReGlobal West Coast event. With hardware-based security built into more than 500 million computing devices, we’re excited to have Wave Systems as a 2011 FiReStarter company, to demonstrate how we can strengthen and simplify security in a world of fast-changing threats and vulnerabilities.”
